In the present day, numerous tools are available for adding digital signatures to PDFs. It would be beneficial if SumatraPDF could display information about the signer and the validity of the certificate on a digitally signed PDF.

Opening a signed PDF file with Adobe Reader takes ages, and the installation size is in GBs.

Would prefer a simple sign stamp, per older Foxit paradigms. The coralling into digital signature tools in newer versions has made signing PDFs too complex for casuals. As an advanced user, I have zero time to manage my keystore, when I am trying to get important paperwork out the door, and it's irritating when I have to find the work around to do something simple.

Cryptographic signatures are a a good feature for certain professionals and cryptoanarchist, but a nuanced use case for a common workflow.

A decent option is to use the last Adobe fully desktop, non-online-hybrid-DC version of the reader that they made. Mess around with it, and you can add your own custom "Adobe Certified" signing signature. Of course, it only looks 100% certified, since you created it yourself with no oversight or recertification.

I really do like it and have used it for years. The only thing that is really official, is the "timestamp", and the Adobe LOGO label it adds. Does it use the internet for its timestamp? I think so, but not sure. I DO know that once the number of years the self made cert runs out, you have to create a new one.

You can size that signature as large or small as you want. It is very impressive, and I've only been challenged once, where they literally wanted my non-certified ink signature sent by 60 DPI fax, instead of anything generated electronically!!

If you decide to do this, use a PC that does NOT have the DC online Adobe Reader installed. ALSO, you can do all the security updates on it, and still be careful to not open malware with it -- That EXE is OLD code. I guess the other option is to pay Adobe $$ for the privilege of being able to sign using their online DC version... But... really??

Yeah, this is literary the only reason why I have Adobe PDF Reader installed...
