Two other great options from Notepad++. These would (optionally) allow the tabs to display the full name of the file without the need for a scrolling mechanism and therefore also alleviate the problems with having too many tabs open.

Either vertical tabs or a button that you can click on to see a list of all of the PDFs like the "list all tabs" feature in a browser!

I often have many PDF files open, so the number of tabs increases, their width shrinks, and the file names become unreadable, making the tabs almost useless. That is why I would really appreciate it if the tabs could be arranged vertically on the left side. The file history in the command palette is very helpful, but it would be even better if the file names could be displayed as tabs at all times.
